Rollercoaster

Meteor The Ride / UAE

The design intent was to create a custom ride with a finale that featured a harrowing 90-degree vertical drop that plunged down into a swirling vortex of water.  The ride was situated in the park’s central lagoon so that it would be visible to everyone in the park.

The ride queue was designed to meander through Mythic Mountain, an adjacent faux rock mountain structure.  Once inside, guests would discover that they had stumbled upon a hidden secret palace filled with ancient artifacts.

This gravity defying rollercoaster experience was created as the marquee attraction for a proposed branded theme park in Dubai.

Insights

The actual rollercoaster experience usually gets all of the attention, but I feel like the lead up or 'pre-show' of any ride experience is a great opportunity to tell a story that makes the overall experience stronger and more memorable.
Since this coaster experience featured both indoor and outdoor sequences, we were able to take advantage of the indoor sequences to reinforce some of the story elements by incorporating specific ride configurations (descending spiral track) and special effects (in the tunnel prior to launch).
