Flower Mountain Discovery Park / CHINA

The proposed Flower Mountain Discovery Park was planned and designed for a picturesque 98-acre site with undulating topography and a small mountain (Flower Mountain) situated between the proposed park and a residential site.

Promoting an ‘eco-park’ atmosphere that featured nature and sustainability were primary goals for this park development.

Working with FORREC from Toronto, Canada, the park’s design was inspired by the site’s lush green canvas as well as local and regional features including the world-famous natural beauty of the nearby Huangshan mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Insights

The architecture on the Main Plaza showcases over-sized versions of some of the Blocks & Puzzles that were created as inspiration for this project. Bright colors are prominent, but the use of natural textures like wood were also part of the palette to help ground the design in the natural environment.

The characters that 'inhabit' the park are highly visible and fully integrated into the attractions and area development throughout. The block character 'Sprout' shows up in the Green Maze on Big Bloom Island while the Twinning Pines frolic in the fountain at the Main Plaza.
